Faculty Member, Law School
About
My main research interests are in two very different subjects: the epistemology, history and law of expert testimony (both in the legal sense and more generally as a source of knowledge); and state crime - the study of genocide, torture, corruption etc from a criminological perspective. With colleagues in law and philosopht I've recently established a new research centre at Hull: Experts & Institutions: Centre for the Study of Expert Knowledge in Law and Society. I'm also Director of the Criminal Justice Ethics Programme at the Institute of Applied Ethics.
