About

Currently, under the supervision of Dr Bublitz, Dr Johnson & Dr Houghton, Mark is investigating the changes in fishing effort, commercial fish stock abundance and distribution in the UK inshore waters that have taken place over the last ~30 years. This involves utilising various data sources to build a broad picture of the UK inshore fisheries, the fleets that fish them and the changes that have taken place. It is hoped that the outcome of this research will provide a UK baseline of interrogatable data which with suitable tools can allow all those concerned with fisheries, their management and more generally the UK inshore ecosystem to investigate historical changes and use this knowledge for better future management of the UK inshore marine resources.
